1.in this story we can see a person that has facilities in live (wite man) and on the other hand we see a man that has a poor condition, both of them with different culture, and that because of this they think, act and believe on differents things, so all this bring them problems of communication.
2. the reasons are that both of them live on differents situations in wich one has facilities in live and the other not also with different culture so all this are the reason of misscommunication between this to people.

In the excerpt, as the title says, two worlds collide. taliking about the culture, both the American guy and the Ugandan guy could never understand each other at least they would try hard, but as they don't do that, they cannot understand the other's culture and that's why the American teacher cannot adapt to the life in that country, and that's why the Ugandan guy does not understand why the American guy sort of hates him.
